Carlton D. WatkinsPARLIAMENTARIAN
Hello to all TJCSGA associated members,
I am Carlton D. Watkins from Dallas College (Cedar Valley campus) and I shall be Parliamentarian for Region II. At the start, I was not meant to be in this position, but the original holder has since left the institution, transferring his authority to me before stepping down. This is a bit of a complicated job for me as I am used to taking a passive role in Student Government. However, I can also choose to see it as a blessing (me breaking out of my shell) because I will be the one that must lay down the law in an impartial manner. I am prepared to immerse myself in Roberts Rules and learn the material within the book before summer’s end. In the beginning, Carlton came to Dallas College with no intent on joining any organization, but I was approached with the idea of TGCSJA and I was sold on that very day. One of my few talents that I bring to Student Government Association is my solid comprehension of the Spanish language. I have spoken it since my junior year in high school and I could prove to be a valuable asset to this Region II E-Board. Diversity, of course, should be vital to the Board and the best way to connect to those what do not look like us is to speak their native tongue. I look forward to forming new alliances in these next few months. Professionally yours, Carlton D. Watkins. |
