CELIA HALLPRESIDENT
Hello, my name is Celia Hall and I am honored to be your Regional TJCSGA President this year! My home campus is Dallas College, Richland where I am majoring in Business and Public Policy. I am also Richland’s Student Government Association President, Captain of Conversation Partners, a DC7 Representative, and a Vice President of both Phi Theta Kappa, and Honors Student Organization. You may know that I am a proud State TJCSGA Alumni and was formerly the Regional Resolutions Committee Chair for two consecutive terms before being selected as your new President!
Outside of campus life, I’ve worked a few different jobs that have given me various experiences as a leader and as a service provider. I’ve been employed as a Future Focus leader at United Way (North Texas’s largest nonprofit organization,) I have worked to gather contracts and plan events at a nationally recognized Law Firm, and I have also worked as a Doctor’s Assistant during the Covid-19 pandemic. All of these jobs are vastly different but allowed me the opportunity to help and communicate with people that I normally may not have been able to. Before attending Dallas College, I was a professional dancer with nearly 10 years of training. My original plan after graduating high school was to attend TxSt where I was offered a scholarship and acceptance into their selective BFA performance and choreography program. That year I faced many difficulties and the pandemic hit, sending many students including myself home to safety. It was during that time that I re-evaluated what I wanted for myself and registered to be a Dallas College student. Soon after, I became involved in my local SGA Chapter and many academic successes and opportunities followed me shortly after. This very organization has shown me the possibilities of rebuilding and growth. So many students have struggled with adversities they face at a young age that normally inhibits their deserved right to quality education and opportunities. Dallas College and Student Government Association gave me the ability to rebuild myself as a student and as a leader. I truly can not express how fortunate I am to represent you all as your Regional President. I believe that every single person deserves the right to education and to experience opportunities so that they may build up themselves and others. I promise to represent you to the best of my ability and to advocate and preserve your right to a safe, inclusive, compassionate, and respectful atmosphere because every student deserves to succeed and build a future for themselves. If there is something that I may remind you of, it would be to encourage you to be brave and to not fear the unknowingness of our futures or to wait for change to happen to us, but to accept it and embrace it wholly because you have the power and the capability to shape and change your life and your future however you choose to. There are very few things in life that are free, but kindness, believing in oneself, and empowering yourself and others are some of them. So remember to be brave, be kind, and create confidence within yourself and your community. |
