TRISTAN MORRIS
Vice President
Hello Region II! My name is Tristan Morris, and I am honored to be serving as the Vice President. I am a second-semester college student at the Mckinney campus, majoring in Criminal Justice. After I complete my Associate's Degree of Arts, I will be transferring to a four-year university, preferably Florida State, where I will continue my education.
I was not much of an extrovert throughout high school and never felt as if I "fit in." I think most of us have felt that way at some point in our lives, but for me, I felt this way the entirety of high school. When I graduated, I was thrilled because I knew college would be where I flourished, and I most definitely have. As soon as my first semester started, I became a Student Government Association (SGA) senator. While working with SGA, I have helped plan a school supply drive for local elementary schools and worked with Psi Beta Kappa on a mental health event. As SGA has been my primary focus thus far, I am also involved with the Gamma Alpha Upsilon, the Criminal Justice Association, and the National Honor Society. |
When I was presented with the position of V P, I was excited but also nervous. I was aware that it is a considerable amount of work and requires time and dedication, but I accepted the invitation because I knew how much it had to offer. This accelerated leadership opportunity would allow me to make new connections, educate students, and become a vital asset to the school. As I navigate college, I have learned how important it is to be involved with a place that has and will continue to have a major impact on my life.
I have always been a planner, contributing significantly to the skills that I feel are beneficial to my positions. My most significant ones are that I am detail-oriented, an excellent time manager, and a problem solver. I have pure intentions to use these skills to impact college students positively. With that said, I am aware of the challenges that can make it difficult, primarily COVID-19. With COVID-19 came the option of online courses, which has made it harder for students to see and understand the events there are. Therefore, I would like to focus on the students more to prevent them from missing anything, especially virtual ones. While focusing on that, I also want to get students excited to come to the events by making them engaging and worthwhile.
Despite being a full-time student and working two jobs, a girl still has to make time for her social life! I enjoy getting my nails done, getting facials, and getting dressed up for a night out! On chill days, I love binge-watching Forensic Files, Criminal Minds, and 9-1-1.
If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, whether about Region II, SGA, or simply needing someone to talk to. I love meeting new people and making friends!
