Carlos E. Valbuena
Carlos E. Valbuena is the student representing Brookhaven College for the President position. Before this role, Valbuena served as a senator in his local SGA and chair of the Resolutions Committee for both Region II and State. He is also a proud Erin Tierney Kramp Scholar and a Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society member. Valbuena is originally from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, but due to the current political and humanitarian crisis in his country, he moved to Texas with my family in late 2015 to pursue a better-quality life. He started at Brookhaven College in Spring 2016 taking ESOL classes, and after a year of learning English, he was able to begin his college journey in the United States. Valbuena will graduate with an Associate of Science in May 2019, and he plans to major in Civil Engineering. His goal is to transfer to a top-engineering university to become a civil engineer specialized in Engineering Project Management, Urban & Regional Planning, and International Development. Valbuena aspires to help communities to thrive in an impactful, innovative, efficient, and sustainable manner. During his free time, he enjoys running, reading, working out, and watching TED presentations.
